DZTC-LOTE - Education, BS - Grades EC-12, Languages Other Than English - Spanish

A Language Other Than English (LOTE) - Spanish Education degree from UNT Dallas is the first step in becoming a certified Spanish teacher in preschool through 12th grade. Students in the LOTE-Spanish program will be prepared to teach Spanish language, literature, and cultures. This unique program is jointly offered between the Spanish program in the School of Liberal Arts and Science and the Teacher Education program in the School of Education. We accept and apply transfer coursework, AP Spanish credit, and CLEP credit. Because Spanish is a high needs area for teachers, students have access to funding like the TEACH grant.

Texas Direct Field of Study Curriculum

In accordance with Texas Education Code, Chapter 61, Section 61.823, if a student completes all the courses in an FOSC and transfers to another Texas public institution of higher education, the FOSC courses transfer as a block and are applied to the student’s selected major. If a student completes the FOSC, the Texas Core Curriculum, and any college or university courses required of all students regardless of major, the student is finished with all the lower-division courses.

If a student transfers with an incomplete FOSC, each completed FOSC course transfers and applies to the to the degree program, and the institution may require the student to complete additional lower-division courses. Courses listed reflect TCCN course numbers.
