Geographical Information Systems (GIS) is a technological tool used to organize, store, and analyze spatial information that is used in virtually every industry, field of public governance and support, and organismal research. Prescribed courses will give undergraduate students marketable skills to determine and analyze patterns such as city planning (bus routes/demographics/usage; demographics and flu outbreaks), marketing and business (demographics/zip codes of customers ), and land management decisions (animal movement patterns/vegetation/geology/hydrology/roads to determine grazing or development or preservation).
