Admissions Information
The admission process begins with an application for admission. Students must apply to be formally admitted to the Social Work program. This typically occurs in the student’s sophomore and junior years. The student will meet with their assigned faculty advisor who will determine whether they meet the qualifications to submit a B.A.S.W. application.
Potential students who wish to begin coursework in the BASW program must be core-complete, have enough overall hours to graduate within the four BASW semesters, and have a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. If prospective students meet these minimum requirements, they are advised into the first semester of Social Work classes. These courses include SOWK 2311 (Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare), SOWK 2312 (Social Work with Children and Families), SOWK 3323 (Diversity and Culturally Competent Practice), and one major elective.
The Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) program will accept transfer of credit only for social work courses from CSWE-accredited programs. The program may request a copy of the course syllabi as deemed appropriate.
